The Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs has released the March Visa Bulletin. In the employment based (EB) categories the priority dates continue to move forward for China, Mexico, the Philippines, and the Rest of the World (ROW) by several months in most cases. In addition, EB-2 India’s priority date moved significantly forward following several months of previous Visa Bulletins’ each moving EB-2 India forward by only a matter of weeks.
EB-2 China’s priority date is now September 1, 2010 having moved forward from March 1, 2010 in the February Bulletin. EB-3 China also moved forward but by a lesser margin from September 1, 2011 to October 22, 2011. This may be due to a projection that because the EB-3 China date is ahead of the EB-2 China date, applicants may “downgrade” to the EB-3 category from EB-2 thus slowing the forward movement of the EB-3 China category. Mexico, the Philippines and ROW all moved forward five months from January 1, 2014 to June 1, 2014.
EB-2 India’s priority date will see the most forward progress of any EB category, moving from September 1, 2005 in the February Bulletin to January 1, 2007. This significant forward movement is a major departure from the last several months Bulletins’ which only moved EB-2 India forward by a few weeks each time. EB-3 India, however, continues to move forward slowly from December 22, 2003 in February to January 1, 2004.
