USCIS updates H-2B Cap Count

On April 11, USCIS updated the FY 2014 cap count for H-2B visas.  H-2B visas are for temporary non-agricultural workers and can be renewed for a period not to exceed three years. Currently, 66,000 H-2B visas are allotted for every fiscal year and are divided evenly between the first and second halves of a given fiscal year.

To date, USCIS has received 20,589 H-2B visa petitions for the second half (April 1 – September 30) of FY 2014. Of those, 17,382 have been approved and 3,207 are pending decision.  H-2B visa holders presently seeking to extend their stay are not counted again against the H-2B cap. The allotment for the first half of FY 2014 was reached on March 14.
